Hello and welcome back to my blog!
In my last blog post I cheerfully outlined my sewing plans for the summer. The nights were starting to get lighter and I was feeling excited and inspired in the wake of my first Me Made May. Unfortunately, since then I have had a frustrating six weeks during which I haven’t achieved a single goal on my list.
I have made a start on a few things and the deadline is looming with others but life seems to have got in the way. I blame it on working full time again and a string of busy weekends. I warned you this was full of excuses! That said, I don’t want to be too hard on myself. Sewing is my hobby and there is no point stressing about these things.
Also, something super exciting has happened during the last six weeks. Sew Now magazine invited me to review a pattern and of course I had to say yes. You can read my article in the current issue (issue 10) which I believe is on sale at WH Smith, Asda and Morrisons.
I chose the Clara Bow Blouse by Til the Sun Goes Down. I absolutely loved the pattern and the beautiful fabric I used from Fabric Godmother. It was so exciting when my copy of the magazine arrived in the post 🙂 I plan to write an extended review for my blog next month and will include more pictures then. Watch this space!
Other than that I have made quite a lot of progress on Katie’s wedding bunting, with all the triangles now sewn together and pinned on to the bias binding. I’ve also bought the cushion pads and ric-rac I need to make the Japanese cushions for my living room.
I mentioned earlier that I am now working full-time again. This is great as it means I have more money to spend on fabric and doing up my house. However, it also means I am no longer able to volunteer at the sewing club at St Cuthbert’s Hospice. It was such a wonderful experience and we all learnt so much from each other. During my time there we made personalised bunting and I also showed them how to make my owl cushions. The results were fantastic as you can see below!
Anyway, I am sorry for the lack of posts recently. Hopefully I will be able to share pictures of some completed projects soon.
Thank you so much for reading and happy sewing!
